The Summer Proposal by Vi Keeland -- 350 pages
The first time I met Max Yearwood was on a blind date.Β MaxΒ wasΒ insanely gorgeous,Β funny,Β and our chemistryΒ wasΒ off the charts.Β He also had the biggest dimples Iβd ever laid eyes on.Β Exactly what I needed after my breakup.Β Or so I thoughtβ¦Until myΒ real dateΒ arrived.Turned out, Max wasnβt who I was there to meet. He only pretended to be until myΒ real dateΒ showed up.Β To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.Β Before he left, he slipped me a ticket toΒ a hockey gameΒ a few blocksΒ away, in case thingsΒ didnβtΒ work outΒ onΒ myΒ actualΒ date.Β I tossed the ticket into my purse and went about trying to enjoy the man I wasΒ supposed to meet.Β But my real blind date and I had no connection.Β So on my way home, I decided to take a chance andΒ stop by the game.Β When I arrived, the seat next to me was empty.Β Disappointed again,Β IΒ decided to leave at the end of the period.Β JustΒ before the buzzer,Β one of theΒ teamsΒ scored,Β and the entire arena went crazy.Β AΒ playerβs faceΒ flashed up on theΒ Jumbotron.Β He was wearing a helmet, but I froze when he smiled.Β You guessed it:Β Dimples.Β Apparently,Β my fake blind date hadnβt invited me toΒ watchΒ hockey with him, heβd invited me toΒ watch himΒ play. And so began my adventure with Max Yearwood.Β HeΒ was everything I needed at the timeβfun, sexy, up for anything,Β and only around for a few months sinceΒ heβd signed withΒ a new teamΒ three-thousandΒ miles away.Β MaxΒ proposed we spend the summerΒ helping me forget my ex.Β It sounded like a good plan. Things couldnβt get too serious when we had an expiration date.Β Right?Β Though,Β you know what they say about theΒ best-laid plans.
