Sewer Extension, Hazardous Waste Program on Arnold Council Agenda

Councilmen will also vote to buy a drug incinerator for the Arnold Police Department, begin crack sealing city streets.

Arnold councilmen will have a busy meeting at City Hall, 2101 Jeffco Blvd., on Thursday at 7 p.m.

They will consider six issues during the meeting.

Drug Incinerator—Councilmen will allocate about $4,600 to buy a drug incinerator for the Arnold Police Department. During the March 15 council meeting, Police Chief Robert Shockey said buying the incinerator would be less expensive than hiring a contractor to destroy drugs impounded from arrests and medicines received in the neighborhood drug disposal program.

Repeal C-4 Zone that allows Property Development north of Store-It storage on Richardson Road—Two years after receiving a C-4 Zoning permit, Spruce Up Landscaping has not built the garage, landscaping and concrete pavement required, Arnold Community Development Engineer Christie Hull Bettale said in a memo dated Feb. 22, 2012. If the Arnold council repeals the C-4 zone, the Barnhart-based company must remove all construction material, debris and vehicles by Sunday.

Sanitary Sewer for Black Oak Trail resident — The ordinance will help Black Oak Trail residents install a sanitary sewer to replace their faulty septic tank systems. A related ordinance will create a special tax for the subdivision. The total cost is estimated at $20,000. Residents will be required to pay up to $8,000 per parcel of land owned of the construction costs, a $2,500 tap fee and all connection costs for attaching their homes to the sanitary sewer.

$20,000 for Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off—The ordinance will give $20,000, St. Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District, to hold a household hazardous waste project for Arnold residents in September or October 2012.

Three-year Contract to Aramark Uniform Services —Aramark has tentatively received a three-year contract to provide uniforms, mops, mats, towels and cleaning materials to the City of Arnold. Aramark will receive $10,000 annually for the duration of the contract.

$38,000 to Walden Associated Technologies for more Sanitary Sewer Repairs—If approved, the cost of repairs will be about $136,000, about $87,000 more than originally budgeted, city documents said.

$88,000 Contract to Parking Lot Maintenance LLC for Crack Sealing Arnold Streets—The Lake St. Louis-based company was the low-bidder, at about $88,000, among the six companies that wanted the Arnold contract. Kansas City-based Musselman & Hall Contractors, LLC placed a $210,000 bid. Arnold-based New Coat Sealing, LLC wanted about $92,000 for the contract.
