• Bland board reviews use tax, park rules, budget loss (mariescountyadvocate.com) — Bland’s Board of Aldermen is preparing an April internet use tax proposal that would redirect online sales tax revenue back to the city while also tightening park hours after dark. Officials reviewed police activity, public works delays, city finances, and rumors about late bill payments, and confirmed plans for a larger fireworks display celebrating Bland’s 250th anniversary.
   

• Gerald Mitchell 1933-2025 (mariescountyadvocate.com) — Family and friends in Bland and Belle are mourning 92-year-old Gerald “Olin” Mitchell, a longtime area resident active in the Belle/Bland Saddle Club and several local churches and organizations. Remembered for his love of horses, hunting, and meals at Granny’s in Bland, he leaves a large family and a legacy of community involvement; services will be announced later.
