Five Reasons to Volunteer for Rockwood Community Education

The Rockwood Community Education Partnership is looking for volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of adults who are trying to learn English. 

The organization's literacy program helps provide basic instruction to adults for whom the language is not their native tongue. Volunteers are also needed to assist students who are studying for the high school equivalency examination. 

In a Board post on Patch, the group provided four reasons why you should volunteering (to which I have added one more):

1. You get a chance to give back
2. Share your skills and talents
3. Help strengthen the community
4. Make a difference in someone else's life
5. Meet interesting people from diverse backgrounds

Qualifying to be a volunteer is easy, you just need a high school diploma, be reliable and flexible, and have an attitude that is patient and non-judgmental.
