• Byrnes Mill man arrested for alleged DWI after accident on I-44 in Eureka (myleaderpaper.com) — Eureka Police arrested a 59-year-old Byrnes Mill man after a reported DWI-related crash on eastbound I-44 in Eureka, where no one was injured but both vehicles were damaged. The man faces Eureka Municipal Court summons after allegedly admitting to heavy drinking and marijuana use, with the Eureka Fire Protection District called to evaluate him at the scene. 
• Jefferson County artist gifts Eureka doctor with unique painting (myleaderpaper.com) — A longtime Jefferson County artist has created a detailed mixed-media painting honoring Dr. John DuBois, a primary care physician based at Mercy Clinic in Eureka. The piece, inspired by DuBois’ love of barefoot waterskiing with his family, is part of an eight-painting “dreamscape” series celebrating doctors who have cared for the artist over the years.
