How Much is Rockwood's Interim Superintendent Being Paid?

Former Wentzville Superintendent Terry Adams is receiving $250,000 for his one-year stint, a sum that was recently the target of a "You Paid for It" segment on Patch news partner Fox 2.

Rockwood's interim superintendent justΒ started on the job several weeks agoΒ but his hiring has already pulled the district back into the local media spotlight.Β

The appointment of formerΒ Wentzville Superintendent Terry AdamsΒ to the post for one year while the district conducts a search for a permanent replacement Β was recently the subject ofΒ Fox 2's "You Paid For It"Β segment.Β

As reported by Patch in May, the board agreed to give Adams $250,000 for his yearlong stint leading the district. The Fox 2 report also criticizes the board for conducting the interviews with potential candidatesΒ behind closed doors.Β

Adams' predecessor, Bruce Borchers, had received a contract for $234,000 per year in his final year at Rockwood before taking a substantial pay cutΒ to helm a district in TennesseeΒ for around $175,000.

The $200,000-plus figure isn't unheard for the top job atΒ large school districts. TheΒ Parkway School District, which neighbors Rockwood and is comparable in size, paysΒ Superintendent Keith Marty $227,000 per yearΒ and he also received aΒ similar treatment from Elliot Davis. Β Β
