Man Empties Mother's Bank Account, She's Evicted From Eureka Nursing Home

An Affton man is accused of misappropriating his elderly mother’s funds, resulting in his mother being evicted from a nursing home in Eureka.

Andrew Limanni, 59, of the first block of Grantwood Lane in Affton, was charged Thursday with misappropriation of funds of an elderly nursing home resident.

Investigators with the Missouri Department of Health said Limanni took charge of his mother’s finances and signed Geraldine Limanni into Marymount nursing home in Eureka in August 2011.

Officials said Limanni signed documents accepting financial responsibility for her care but then made no payment on her behalf. An investigation showed he had withdrawn nearly $14,000 in cash from his mother’s bank account between Nov. 2011 and October 2012.

According to court documents, Limanni told investigators he had “secreted” his mother’s funds in an attempt to qualify her for Medicaid to pay for nursing home care.

Limanni’s mother was evicted from the nursing home in September 2012 due to nonpayment. She passed away in March 2013.

Warrants have been issued for Limanni, and bail was set at $10,000.
