The Legends Golf Course in Eureka Set to Re-Open Saturday

After remaining in limbo for six months follow its closure in February, the purchase of the property by a group of St. Louis investors has been completed.

It's official. A group of local St. Louis investors led by long-time members Matt and Sue Iovaldi, completed the purchase of The Country Club at the Legends Friday morning.Β

The new owners said that clears the final hurdle and puts them on track to re-open the 27-hole golf courseΒ Saturday under a new name and a new logo, now simply called The Legends.Β

Helming the revamped country club will be Senior PGA professionalΒ Jeff Whitefield as general manager. Whitfield recently played in the qualifying rounds of the Senior Open in Omaha.Β

He will be joined by golf pro Brett Moomey, who was formerly the assistant golf pro at Bellerive Country Club, and in the kitchen by Chef Carson Burks, previously the sous chef at Algonquin.Β

A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Aug. 4 and will include tours of the clubhouse, food, drinks and giveaways. The golf course is only of only three in Missouri with the original front 18 holes designed by famous golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones.Β

"With the continued support of the members, The Legends is 100 percent positive it will restore the club to be an environment the community takes pride in having," read a statement from the new ownersΒ announcing the news.Β

The re-opening follows the club closure in February after previousΒ owner Carmelo Natoli died in November and a bid for the property from a different set of investors thatΒ fell through earlier this month.Β

Prices for the membership will be similar to previous rates. A full family membership will run $425 per month while an individual package will go for $375. Senior and junior members will receive discounted rates in the $325-350 range.Β
