Work Begins on Route 109 Improvement Project
The upgrades will include roundabouts and two new lanes as part of $5.3 million in improvements that is the largest such project for the city to date, according to officials.

Construction has begun onΒ a $5.3 million upgrade to Route 109Β between Route 100 and Clayton RoadΒ that will add two roundabouts, install mediansΒ and widen it to four lanes.Β
The project is a partnership between the city of Wildwood of the Missouri Department of Transportation aimed at improving safety, preventing left turns and decreasing congestion,Β although some residents have raised doubts about the plan.
The roadwork is expectedΒ to continue until late 2014 and be spread across four phases, so here is an outline from MoDOTΒ of what you can expect to seeΒ as the project progresses:
Phase 1, summer 2013 to spring 2014
- Construct theΒ east half of Route 109 from Route 100 to Pond Grover Loop
- Build aΒ pedestrian bridge over Route 109.
- Construct theΒ west half of Route 109 from Route 100 to Clayton Road
- Work on theΒ east half of roundabout at Route 100
- Build theΒ west half of the pedestrian underpass
- Close andΒ reconstruct the Route 100 westbound off-ramp.Β
- Construct theΒ east half of Route 109 from Pond Grover Loop to Clayton Road
- Build theΒ east half of pedestrian underpass
- Close and reconstructΒ theΒ Route 100 westbound on-ramp
- Close and reconstructΒ Pond-Grover Loop Road East
- CompleteΒ Pond-Grover Loop West
- Complete roundabouts and Route 109 medians
