Change Jar Stolen in Apartment Break-in; Father Loses Cool

Westwood Trails Drive, Fenton
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from a couple on Jan. 27 who said someone had broken into their apartment on Westwood Trails Drive in Fenton. The residents had been alerted to someone breaking into their apartment by the apartment manager. The burglar had already left when the residents and deputies arrive. The only item missing was a change jar, containing approximately $200, that has been sitting next to a couch. The apartment manager said he saw the burglar enter the apartment by forcing open the door with her body. The door jamb was broken. Deputies have a suspect but have been unable to locate her.

A man was arrested Jan. 27 on suspicion of child abuse following a dispute with his 12- and 14-year-old daughters at their home on San Simeon Drive in Fenton. Deputies said the man told them his daughters don’t give him any respect and that he “lost his cool,” slapping both of them in the face with an open hand. One daughter said the suspect became angry after she threw a blanket on the floor and refused to pick it up. The other daughter also was slapped and choked when she attempted to defend her sister. The father was taken into custody.
