Much Hoopla Sunday as Girl Scouts Participate in Hula Palooza

The Hula hoop event was designed to promote a healthy lifestyle, and raise some funds for a local school.

The Hula Hoops were spinning Sunday as the Girl Scouts of Troop 3457 participated in a Hula Palooza, an event designed by two Girl scouts - Sarah Haug and Emily Hoffmeister - in an effort to earn a Silver Award and to promote a healthy active lifestyle.

Michelle Schaefer, the artistic director of STL Hoop Club, led the girls and some mothers through a series of hoop twirling exercises Sunday at Bud Weil Park in Fenton.

The girls grabbed some shade in a park shelter as they wrapped their hoops with colorful tape before venturing into the hula hoop moves demonstrated by Schaeffer.
