• Pevely officials promote Mayberry to police chief (myleaderpaper.com) — Festus residents now have one of their own leading nearby Pevely’s Police Department, as longtime officer and Air Force veteran Jamie Mayberry has been promoted to chief while continuing to live in Festus with his family. He plans to hire several new officers, emphasize advanced training, and strengthen community policing as he professionalizes the 15-officer department.
   

• Former 4-Star Purdue Recruit Headed to Transfer Portal After Latest Losing Season (modbee.com) — A former Festus High School football standout, receiver Arhmad Branch, is leaving Purdue and plans to enter the transfer portal after limited playing time on a struggling Boilermakers team. Branch, once a four-star recruit and top Missouri prospect, starred at Festus with 900 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns his senior year before heading to Purdue.
