• Independence City Council weighs plan to sell City Hall to Mid-Continent Public Library (kshb.com) — Independence officials are considering selling part of the longtime City Hall site to Mid-Continent Public Library, which wants to build a new headquarters just east of Independence Square. The council is expected to approve a letter of intent, triggering months of negotiations while the city continues consolidating services at its newer GEHA building location. 
• Independence schools to reopen Tuesday after outage at water treatment plant causes closures (kctv5.com) — Independence Public Schools will reopen Tuesday even as a citywide boil advisory continues following a power outage at the municipal water treatment plant. City crews restored power Monday night, are testing water across town, and are supplementing supply with Kansas City water to stabilize pressure while restrooms and basic services remain available in school buildings.
