• Aldermen vote down Deerwood closure for Hwy. 61 roundabout project (thecash-book.com) — Jackson’s Board of Aldermen rejected a plan to close Deerwood Drive during the upcoming Highway 61 roundabout project, after residents, churches, businesses, and school officials warned about traffic and safety impacts. The board also advanced major wastewater plant upgrades, roof repairs on key city facilities, an engine-parts contract change, an emergency-operations partnership, and announced big-name tribute bands for the 2026 City Park Summer Concert Series.
   

• Delayed tax payments arrive at County Collector's Office (thecash-book.com) — Cape Girardeau County has finalized an emergency-management agreement that links Jackson, Southeast Missouri State University, and Cape Girardeau so agencies can share space, staff, and resources during disasters. County leaders also reported delayed property tax payments are now arriving, approved surplus payments from a 2024 tax sale, renewed several contracts, and reappointed members to the Mental Health Board.
   

• Jackson girls basketball repeats as SEMO Conference Champions (thecash-book.com) — Jackson High School’s girls basketball team has repeated as SEMO Conference Tournament champions, steamrolling three opponents behind standout sophomore guard Kate Deck and a deep sophomore core. With multiple underclassmen earning all-tournament honors and dominant defensive performances, Jackson looks poised to remain a regional powerhouse as they head into the First State Community Bank Holiday Classic.
