β’ The Next Step: addiction to education (thekirkwoodcall.com) β A Kirkwood-based nonprofit called The Next Step is helping people in addiction recovery afford college or trade school through scholarships and mentoring, including orientation events that have outgrown its office. Leaders and alumni describe how the program, founded by friends in recovery, has supported more than a hundred students this year alone and inspired many to pursue helping professions and give back to the community.
