• Paris boys finish third, Lady Coyotes' Sutton scores 1,000th in Monroe City (mexicoledger.com) — Paris High School’s boys and girls basketball teams both faced Louisiana, with the boys beating the Bulldogs 58–47 in the Monroe City Tournament and the girls topping Louisiana 48–37 earlier in the week. That girls’ win was especially memorable as Reese Sutton hit her 1,000th career point, while several Paris players turned in strong scoring and rebounding performances.
   

• John Rodney Weber (centralmoinfo.com) — Louisiana residents are mourning the passing of 78-year-old John Rodney Weber, a lifelong community member who worked many years maintaining Riverview Cemetery. A memorial graveside service is set for Friday morning, December 19, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Louisiana, with memorials suggested to Pike County Home Health and Hospice.
