
Washington, DC – National League of Cities President James Mitchell, Jr., announced the appointment of O'Fallon Councilman Jim Pepper, Councilman, to the National League of Cities’ (NLC) 2011 Community and Economic Development Policy and Advocacy Committee.
This committee has the lead responsibility for considering NLC federal policy positions in the areas of community and economic development, financial institutions, international trade, housing, land use and recreation.
“It is an honor to serve as an advocate for O’Fallon, St. Charles County and the Metropolitan region in shaping the National League of Cities’ economic development and advocacy strategies,” Pepper said in a news release. “Keeping this region at the forefront of economic prosperity is what will ensure that O’Fallon and the entire county remain safe, healthy and vibrant communities for generations to come.”

As a member of the committee, Pepper will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions, while advocating on behalf of America’s cities and towns on Capitol Hill, with the administration, and at home.
The chair of this year’s Community and Economic Development Committee is Gilbert Lopez, vice mayor, Coolidge, Arizona.

Serving as this year’s vice chairs are Neal Andrews, council member, Ventura, California, and Jim Fairchild, council member, Dallas, Oregon.
