St. Charles Mayor to Speak at SCC Graduation

St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith will be the keynote speaker at the 24th annual St. Charles Community College commencement exercises on Saturday, May 12, 2012. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium of the College Center on the SCC campus.

“As we celebrate the accomplishment of many St. Charles County students, it will be an honor to hear from someone who has supported and believed in the college since its beginning,” said Ron Chesbrough, Ph.D., SCC president, in a news release. “Thanks to the mayor’s longstanding commitment to SCC, thousands of students in our community have been able to pursue their dream of a college education, many of whom live in, work in and give back to this vibrant community.”

Faith was elected to SCC’s first Board of Trustees, serving from 1986 to 1995, and was the director of development for the SCC Foundation from 1997 to 2005. She has attended some classes at SCC and her son Howard also attended the college. She established a scholarship in 2003, the Florence Killian Memorial Scholarship, in memory of her mother, and currently is an emeritus member of the SCC Foundation Board.
