Annie Jr. is a one-act Broadway musical by Thomas Meehan, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin. Based on the 1930s comic strip, Little Orphan Annie, the musical follows the adventures of an 11-year old red-headed girl trying to escape from an orphanage. All she has of her past is a locket and a note from her parents promising to return for her. With Annie’s endearing spunkiness, a cast of colorful characters, and memorable music (“Tomorrow,” “Maybe,” “It’s a Hard Knock Life”), Annie Jr. appeals to audiences of all ages.
