Update: Repainting of O'Fallon Water Tower Continues
The process includes cleaning the surface and the removal of old paint.
If you've driven down Main Street recently, you've probably noticed that O’Fallon Water Tower # 3 is getting a new look.
Crews began repainting the 400,000 gallon tower, located near North Main Street and Tom Ginnever Avenue in north in March.
According to a news release from the City of O'Fallon, the process includes cleaning the surface and the removal of old paint. To protect the surrounding area during the work, a city contractor is installing a containment system around the water tower, which is raised and lowered daily as needed.

The containment system, which looks like a giant shower curtain, was in place again on Tuesday afternoon. O'Fallon Director of Public Relations Tom Drabelle said crews began priming and painting yesterday.
"The primary work so far has been sandblasting the old paint off of the tower," he added.

Although the tower will be out of commission during the work, water service to residents and local businesses will not be affected.
The entire repainting project will be capped off with the logo and website. The project was orginally expected to be complete by May 15, weather permitting. Drabelle said he did not have a date for completion on Tuesday. O'Fallon Patch will update as the information becomes available, so you can be sure to check out the new design!
