Friends and teammates previously told O'Fallon Patch, Crenshaw was a very tolerant person who loved the kids, and was respected by his players.

Crenshaw coached at the school from 1960 until 1974, when he left for University City High School, where he coached until 1994. He amassed a career record of 677 wins and 266 losses, ranking among the top 10 all-time in wins for Missouri coaches.

He also starred at Sumner High School and played his entire collegiate career at Quincy, where he still ranks among all-time leaders in several categories. In 2010, St. Dominic opened their new multi-purpose gymnasium and presented Crenshaw Court, in honor of former coach Ed Crenshaw.

He was also inducted into the Quincy University Hall of Fame in 1974 and the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame in 1984.
