Lindenwood Men's Hockey Releases 2024-25 Season Schedule

ST. CHARLES, MO -- The Lindenwood University men's hockey team announced its 2024-25 season schedule on Tuesday.

This will be Lindenwood's third season as an NCAA Division I program and its first under new head coach Bill Muckalt, who took over after being hired in June. Muckalt had previously worked six years as the associate head coach at Michigan.

This season, the Lions will play a full 36-game NCAA schedule, which will be made up of 18 two-game series beginning in October and concluding in February 2025. Lindenwood will host six of those series -- meaning the Lions will have 12 home games this season.

Lindenwood will play a number of national powers this season, including Wisconsin, the University of Denver, Michigan State, and Long Island University. The highlight of the home schedule will be November 15-16, when Ohio State comes to visit the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, where the Lions play their home games.

"Overall, I am really excited about our strength of schedule and quality of opponents," Muckalt said, in a statement released by the Lindenwood athletics program.

The season will begin October 5 and 6, when Lindenwood hosts a two-game set against UNLV. Both games are set to begin at 7:10 p.m. and will be the first time ever that the Lions and Runnin' Rebels have ever met in men's hockey.

Lindenwood's next five series will all be on the road. The Lions will play at Wisconsin, then at the Air Force Academy, followed by a trip to Miami of Ohio to close out October. In November, Lindenwood will play at Robert Morris and at Denver, before coming back home to play the series against Ohio State and another against Stonehill.

The Lions will play just two series in December, as they close out the first semester. Lindenwood will play at Michigan State, then at Nebraska-Omaha.

After that, the team will enjoy a long break before returning to action in January. During the second semester, the Lions will play every weekend until the end of the regular season, which comes in late February.

2025 will begin with a home series against St. Thomas on January 3 and 4. Lindenwood will be back on the road the following three weekends with games at Stonehill (Massachusetts), Augustana (South Dakota), and Notre Dame (South Bend, Ind.).

January will conclude and February will begin with a home series against Simon Fraser on January 31 and February 1. The Lions will hit the road again the next weekend, with a trip to Long Island University.

Lindenwood's final home series of the season will be February 14 and 15, when the Lions host Alaska-Fairbanks. The final series of the regular season will come the next weekend when Lindenwood travels way north to play the University of Alaska-Anchorage on February 21 and 22.

"This will pose a good challenge for our group as we use these games as a measuring tool to see where we are at," Muckalt said. "This season will provide big opportunities to see where we can improve as a team. Excited to get on the ice with our players and start working to get better."

The Lions went 6-18-4 in their final season under Rick Zombo last year.
