- St. Louis Public Schools were placed on a hard lockdown Monday following a deadly shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. The shooting occurred around 9:10 a.m., injuring six people and killing one adult and one student. The shooter was also killed after St. Louis police engaged him inside the school during the incident. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
- The city of St. Louis has experienced a surge in hospitalization for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a common respiratory illness among children. According to St. Louis Children's Hospital, the facility has been admitting around 80 children each week since September due to complications from RSV. Doctors advise parents who suspect their child has RSV should go to their pediatrician or an urgent care clinic. (St. Louis Public Radio)
- A drag show sponsored by Saint Louis University earlier this month prompted pushback from Catholic protestors. The six non-SLU-affiliated protestors gathered outside the event, held on Oct. 11 in the university's Busch Student Center, with signs criticizing "homosexual acts" and "sinful lifestyles." Despite the controversy, approximately 300 students turned out for the event to enjoy performances from seven local entertainers. (The University News)
