$74,590 Reward To Help Solve Irish Pub Owner's Murder

Patrick McVey was fatally shot on Interstate 55 more than a year ago. Can you help solve his murder?

ST. LOUIS, MO — It's been more than a year since Patrick McVey, then 57, was found dead behind the wheel of his gray Ford Explorer. A Missouri Department of Transportation worker stopped around 6 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2016 to check on the vehicle abandoned on the shoulder of Interstate 55 near Carondelet Park on the city's south side. He found McVey — who police say had been shot hours earlier, probably from a moving vehicle — slumped inside.

McVey was the co-owner of Maggie O'Brien's Restaurant & Irish Pub, a popular downtown bar located on Market Street. McVey and his brother Eddie opened Maggie's in 1979.

Friends and family are still confounded by a possible motive, and detectives seem to have no leads in the case. To solve the mystery, St. Louis Regional CrimeStoppers is offering the largest reward in the group's history, in total $74,590. The vast majority of that money, more than $69,000, has come from donations from friends, family, area businesses, and restaurant patrons.
