Be On The Lookout For Central West End Robber: Police
Police say the man has robbed five women in the Central West End since June 12.
ST. LOUIS, MO — A robber is targeting victims in the Central West End, police say, and has robbed at least five people since June 12, most of them lone women. Authorities say the man has brandished a silver handgun during his robberies, and though he hasn't physically hurt any of his victims, police say he should be considered armed and potentially dangerous.
Police say the first robbery happened on June 12 when the man followed a 37-year-old woman to her apartment on S. Kingshighway Boulevard and demanded her wallet. He later used the woman's credit card, police said.
On June 15, he robbed another woman outside her apartment on Clara Avenue, and on June 19, just after 1 p.m., he robbed a third woman in the lobby of her apartment on Lindell Boulevard.

Later, also on June 19, police say the man carjacked two women in their 70s, and forced them to drive him to an ATM.
Police released a photo of the man Wednesday afternoon and are warning community members to be on the lookout and avoid walking alone during the day or night. If you see him, they say, make a mental note of what he is wearing and which direction he is traveling, but do not attempt to confront or follow him. Immediately call police.

Washington University sent a warning to students and staff Wednesday, saying that two Wash U medical students had spotted the suspected robber at the intersection of Forest Park and Taylor Avenue Tuesday afternoon. Police suspect he may be using MetroLink or MetroBus to travel to and from the area.
"As with all robberies," Wash U said in an email, "if someone threatens or uses force to obtain your property, comply with him or her. Don't do anything that might intensify a robber's aggression or fear. Slowly and deliberately turn over your belongings."
The best way to fight back, authorities say, is to be a good witness: "Notice details like what was the robber wearing and which direction he or she traveled upon leaving the area."
