Bill Clinton To Visit St. Louis Wednesday
The former president will tour a local school, visit a mobile farmers' market, and meet with girls interested in science and math.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Former Democratic president Bill Clinton will visit St. Louis Wednesday as part of a nationwide Clinton Foundation tour. He is scheduled to tour a local school to see how the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a joint venture between the Clinton Foundation and the American Heart Association, is creating school environments that foster exercise and healthy lifestyles. "We work with schools, companies, community organizations, healthcare professionals and families to transform the conditions and systems that lead to healthier kids," the group's website states. "Our goal is to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity and to empower kids to develop lifelong, healthy habits."
Clinton will also stop by a mobile farmers' market created from a repurposed city bus. "The mobile farmers’ market is designed to combat the health problems associated with food deserts by bringing fresh produce, fish, meat and other staples to low-income areas that don’t have grocery stores. The food will be sold on a sliding pay scale," St. Louis Public Radio reported in 2015.

President Clinton plans to meet with members of the Girls, Inc. Eureka! Program, an initiative that provides increased science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education to women and young girls in low-income neighborhoods. The effort, which has settled into many cities across the country, aims to enable and empower the women for a successful future while living financially sound, productive lives.
The Clinton Foundation was created in 1997 to address global health issues, foster economic opportunity in the developing world, and fight for the social and economic wellbeing of women and girls. The Foundation has raised more than $2 dollars to put toward those initiatives, drawing criticism related to transparency and donor access in the process.
