- The police departments of East St. Louis and Alton have each received $255,000 grants to implement body cameras for on-duty officers. The grants were awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice as part of the Body-Worn Camera (BWC) Policy and Implementation Program. The body cameras will not be worn by all officers, only those who regularly interact with the public in the course of their work. (St. Louis American)
- A woman was found dead outside of the childcare center where she worked. The death of 36-year-old Tyana Moore occurred Thursday evening in front of Kolors Learning Center. Police have ruled Moore's death a homicide and believe the suspect is a 55-year-old man. (KMOV.com)
- A St. Louis organization has created a program to help parents and students access banned books. In Purpose Educational Services is partnering with Eyeseeme, an African-American children’s bookstore located in University City, to ship the controversial texts to readers who may not otherwise have the option to access them. The first book being offered by the program is "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison. (Riverfront Times)
