ST. LOUIS, MO — A St. Louis County Police officer shot a man around 1:15 p.m. in the 4100 block of Camellia Avenue in the Penrose neighborhood of North St. Louis city, officials said Tuesday. Police called the man a "suspect." The St. Louis County Police Department confirmed via Twitter that no officers were injured and that the man was still alive. He was taken to a local hospital. Another man was also arrested.
Prior to the shooting, an official said, officers from the St. Louis County Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were serving a search warrant as part of a federal anti-gang task force. The search warrant was related to a narcotics investigation involving fentanyl.
"During the investigation and the execution of a search warrant, [police] encountered individuals in the back of the 4100 block [of Camellia Avenue]," St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said. "One of the individuals flourished a firearm at the detectives."
