Here are the top three stories today in St. Louis:
- The St. Louis Cardinals are in the postseason. The team clinched the National League Central Division on Tuesday evening with a 6-2 victory against the Milwaukee Brewers. The team will finish out the 2022 regular season with six games against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The St. Louis Cardinals will then be playing the team that wins the third National League Wild Card slot in a three-game series from Oct. 7 through Oct. 9. (RedBirdRants)
- American Red Cross crews have deployed to assist the Hurricane Ian recovery efforts. The St. Louis responders are taking two emergency response vehicles to Florida. The vehicles will be used to distribute hot meals to hurricane victims. (KSDK)
- The Mississippi River's low water levels are impacting barge traffic. The decrease in traffic comes at a bad time - harvest season. St. Louis' National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Beitscher reports that nearly all of the river's basin has seen below-normal rainfall over the past 30 days. The Corps can release water from the southernmost dam near Alton - but it can only be done once. (Subscription: STL Today)
