Carjacker Crashes In High Speed Police Chase
Police pursued a red Ford Fusion through St. Louis and East St. Louis Wednesday before the chase ended in a crash. The car had been stolen.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Police chased a carjacker through downtown St. Louis, East St. Louis, and St. Louis County Wednesday before the suspect finally crashed near Harris Stowe State University. The red Ford Fusion had been identified by a license plate reader as the same vehicle stolen in a carjacking the previous night, police said. The suspect raced through downtown neighborhoods, onto several interstate highways, over a bridge into East St. Louis and back, as police helicopters tracked him from the sky.
Shortly after 5 p.m., the suspect rear ended a car at a stoplight at the intersection of Market Street and Compton Avenue, bringing an end to the chase as police pulled him from the car. No one was injured in the crash.
