Check Out Habitat For Humanity's New South City Location

Habitat for Humanity has new headquarters and ReStore location at South Grand and Chippewa.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Habitat for Humanity is getting a new headquarters at 3830 South Grand (at Grand and Chippewa) in South St. Louis' Dutchtown neighborhood. The move is expected by the end of April when Habitat's new ReStore location will also open in the same building.

Habitat for Humanity St. Louis purchased the aprox. 51,000 square foot building from Schnuck Markets last year. The 41-year old building had been used as a grocery store and, more recently, as an IRS call center.

The new space will allow for an almost 20,000 square foot ReStore with a large open sales floor similar to Habitat’s ReStore Des Peres, plentiful parking and a welcoming and comfortable customer and donor experience, a spokesperson for Habitat said.

The first ReStore opened in 1997 on Forest Park Avenue. The new ReStore will have its own dock for easy transfer of construction and home remodeling supplies. Habitat’s ReStore Des Peres will remain open at 2117 Sams Drive, behind the Sam’s Club off Manchester Road. Once the new ReStore opens, both locations will operate Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“We are delighted to have found a property in the city that will allow us to function as one — our administrative offices, construction warehouse and ReStore will be housed under one roof," said Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis CEO Kimberly McKinney. "We look forward to continuing the important work of providing affordable housing for hardworking low income families who deserve a safe and decent place to live.”

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis also announced today that it was selected as the builder of choice for the final 10 lots of La Saison development, an affordable housing development being managed by the St. Louis Housing Authority. Habitat was chosen to complete the neighborhood revitalization project through a competitive selection process, the organization said.

Ground will be broken this year on the first phase, which will include five homes, two of which will be built to universal design standards, with all being built to net-zero ready energy efficiency standards, a common practice of Habitat’s to ensure long-term sustainability for new buyers.
