Here are the top three stories today in St. Louis:

  1. Three St. Louis police organizations have sued the City of St. Louis regarding its new civilian oversight law. The new law would create the Division of Civilian Oversight while forming a team of 10 investigators. The division would take over all internal police investigations. The St. Louis Police Officers’ Association, the Ethical Society of Police, and the St. Louis Police Leadership Organization filed the lawsuit on the eighth anniversary of Michael Brown's death. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
  2. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports that it is conducting large-scale active shooter trainings. This is reportedly the first time in six years that the department has conducted this type of training. The training is meant to reassure parents and students as the 2022-2023 school year begins and will take place throughout the next year. (KMOV4)
  3. Five misdemeanor charges have been dropped against former St. Louis County police officer Amy Loftus. The charges were for misusing official information. She reportedly made searches on the Regional Justice Information Service database regarding fellow officers and her mother out of curiosity. The charges were dropped through a diversion program.
