Couple Robbed In St. Louis During Facebook Marketplace Sale

"Get outta here before me and my friends kill you," an armed man told the couple. He kept their Xbox and games.

ST. LOUIS, MO — A couple was robbed in St. Louis' Hyde Park neighborhood after meeting a man to sell an Xbox on Facebook Marketplace, KSDK reports. Exactly when the robbery took place isn't clear.

When the couple arrived at the meeting place, an armed man told them: "Get outta here before me and my friends kill you." He took the game system and a handful of games worth about $250.

The couple left and reported the robbery to police. It's not clear if police found found the suspect or if the couple got their Xbox back. Patch has reached out for comment. This story will be updated if we hear back.

Police say to take sensible precautions when conducting Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist sales. Meet only in crowded, public places. Tell family and friends where you're going and when you'll be back. Carry a cellphone, and if possible, don't go alone. Many police departments around the country have also begun encouraging users to meet in their parking lots, so call your local police department to see if they are participating.
