Here are the top stories in St. Louis today:
- The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued a Public Safety Alert warning Americans of what it calls an "alarming increase" in fake prescription pills containing fentanyl and meth. According to Todd Zimmerman, Special Agent in Charge of the St. Louis division, the division has seized 179 kilograms this year alone — nearly as much as was seized in the two previous years. The DEA says the counterfeit pills are illegally made by criminal drug networks and look like real prescription opioid medications like oxycodone, hydrocodone, amphetamines, and alprazolam. - A new mask mandate went into effect yesterday in St. Louis County, according to County Executive Sam Page. The guidelines of the new mask mandate will be the same as the ones for the mask mandate announced in July: anyone five years or older must wear a mask in indoor public spaces and on public transportation, regardless of their vaccination status. Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt posted on Twitter to express his disagreement with the mandate. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
