ST. LOUIS, MO — A driver has been arrested after a hit-and-run left a man dead Tuesday evening on the city's north side. The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. on the corner of North Broadway and Christian Ave., police said. Witnesses say the vehicle sped away from the scene, made a u-turn, then sped past again.
The victim, who may have been hit by a second car after the initial accident, died at the scene. Neither vehicle stopped, and witnesses said they may have been racing. A short time later, police stopped the suspect's car, which showed damage to its hood and windshield, and arrested the driver. They said he is cooperating.
The victim's identity has not been released. Police do not have a description of the second car that may have hit him.
