Driver Shoots At Police, Flees During Traffic Stop

No officers were injured, and police are still looking for the shooter.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — Police say a gunman fled after firing shots at officers on North Florrisant Road near Interstate 270 in the north county Tuesday night. He is still at large and a manhunt is underway, KMOV reports.

The shooting happened after a traffic stop at the intersection of North Hanley Road and Santa Bella Drive around 8:30 p.m. After pulling over a driver, police said they found outstanding warrants on the man. The driver then fled, almost striking an officer, and crashed on North Florrisant Road about a mile away, fleeing into some nearby woods.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

A passenger in the shooter's vehicle was arrested. Police said a gun and drugs were found during a search of the vehicle.

Police helicopters and K-9 units were still assisting with the search early Wednesday. Police have not released the shooter's identity.
