Off-Duty Police Officer, Civilian Shot In Bar Altercation

The two men were involved in a confrontation prior to the shooting, witnesses said.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Police say a shooting at a south St. Louis bar early Friday morning left an off-duty police officer and one civilian injured. The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. at Bomber O'Brien's Sports Bar and Grill on Beck Avenue.

Police aren't confirming who fired the shots or why, but witnesses say a confrontation between the off-duty officer and a 22-year-old bar patron led up to the shooting.

The father of the civilian shot told Fox 2 St. Louis that his son had had a previous argument with an off-duty police officer at the same bar. The man's father also told reporters his son was at the bar celebrating his birthday.
