Empty Train Derails Near Downtown St. Louis

No one was injured, but a railroad bridge was damaged in the derailment.

ST. LOUIS, MO — A Union Pacific train derailed near downtown St. Louis early Thursday morning, Fox 2 reports. The derailment happened around 4:30 a.m. south of the 2900 block of Chouteau Avenue. Seven empty cars fell from a railroad bridge and no one was injured.

The bridge, however, was damaged in the crash. Union Pacific is working on repairs. The cause of the incident isn't clear.
