Fifth Grader Shot During After-School Argument Thursday

ST. LOUIS, MO — Police say an 11-year-old boy was shot while walking home from his school, Aspire Academy, Thursday afternoon in St. Louis. The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 5300 block of Emerson Avenue in the north city's Mark Twain neighborhood, KMOV reports.
According to police, the shooting wasn't an accident. Two suspects were reportedly arguing with the fifth grader over a neighborhood dispute when one of them pulled out a gun and shot the child. He was hit in the leg, but his injuries are said to be non-life threatening. Police said the boy's brother called 911 after the shooting.

Police have not released the identities of the suspects. It's not clear if they are in custody. No further information has been released.
