ST. LOUIS, MO — Three St. Louis firefighters were injured overnight battling a house fire in the north city. They received minor burns and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Firefighters were called to the vacant, two-story home on West Florissant Ave. just after midnight. The fire appears to have started in the basement, officials said, before spreading to the structure's other levels. The firefighters were injured on the building's second floor.

Fire Captain Garon Mosby said the firefighters were treated at the scene and released, but will receive follow-up care this morning. The cause of the fire is still unknown. No one else was injured since the building was vacant when the fire started.
