Here are the top 3 stories today in St. Louis:

  1. The deadline to apply for flood aid for home repair, personal property replacement, or other assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is Nov. 7. More than $101 million in federal and state disaster aid has already been paid to help St. Louis area residents and businesses recover from the historic rainfall and flooding in July. Aid applications can be made by calling 800-621-3362, visiting DisasterAssistance.gov, or by visiting one of three FEMA disaster recovery centers in the region. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
  2. A rare rock formation near St. Louis is now accessible by foot due to record-low Mississippi River levels. Tower Rock, a large island in the middle of the river, is typically only accessible by boat, but can be reached on foot when water levels dip below 1.5 feet at the river gauge in Chester, IL. The gauge dropped to zero on Thursday, and officials say the forecast shows no sign of significant recovery soon. (KOMU 8)
  3. A south St. Louis shopping center is getting a makeover after sitting vacant for years. The site on South Lindbergh Boulevard was purchased last year for $3.75 million by the Ohio-based Cornerstone Properties. The center is now the home to the first Boot Barn location in St. Louis, as well as a 30,000-square-foot Planet Fitness. (KSDK)
