Gateway Arch Renovation Almost Completed, Will Host Fair St. Louis In July

Construction is less than a year from being completed on the Gateway Arch. Fair St. Louis will move back to the Arch grounds in July.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Construction will be completed on a new Gateway Arch museum by next July, marking the end of the three-year project. Interactive exhibits will give visitors a deeper appreciation of westward expansion during the 19th Century, and new walking paths and bike trails will allow easier access to the riverfront. This is the first major renovation to the Arch since it was built more than five decades ago.

CBS St. Louis reports:

It is a $176 million component of the greater CityArchRiver project, whose goal is to improve St. Louis’ cityscape from the Mississippi River through downtown.
The museum will open before Fair St. Louis kicks off in July 2018, according to director of communications at Gateway Arch Park Foundation, Ryan McClure.

The project is expected to be completed in time for Fair St. Louis, the annual Independence Day celebration, which will move from Forest Park back to the Gateway Arch.
