Here are the top three stories today in St. Louis:
- Unionized janitors in the St. Louis area will be rallying together today, Jun. 20, to demand holiday pay and a paid day off for the Juneteenth holiday. The workers are demanding the revised pay from Clean-Tech, 4M, and ABM. The three contractors cover nearly 1,600 St. Louis area janitors. The janitors are unionized under SEIU Local 1. (KMOV4)
- Charges have been issued after a deadly home explosion that occurred on Friday. Terell Cooks and Seneca Mahan have been charged with three counts of second-degree murder and various other charges for their involvement in the fire that claimed four young lives. Three of the victims were teenagers. The cause of the explosion is still being investigated. (KSDK.com)
- Two St. Louis Alderpersons have announced their candidacy for the open President of the Board of Aldermen position. Progressive Alderperson Megan Green will be competing against business-friendly Alderperson Jack Coatar for the position. Lewis Reed resigned from the position after a federal indictment on bribery charges. (KSDK.com)
