Judge Approves $2.2 Million Settlement In Fatal DWI Crash

Antwon Jones and his 2-month-old daughter, Scarlett, were killed in March 2016 when Eric Wolf hit them at 70 mph. He had been drinking.

ST. LOUIS, MO — Eric Wolf and Atomic Cowboy, the bar where he was drinking the night he killed a 40-year-old man and his 2-month-old baby girl, will pay $2.2 million as part of a settlement approved Tuesday by a St. Louis judge. The Post-Dispatch reports that Wolf rear-ended the family's Subaru at 70 miles per hour. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in September and sentenced to three years in prison and five years probation.

Antwon Jones had just picked up his daughter Scarlett from a relative's house and they were stopped at a light when Wolf crashed his Ford Mustang into their car at high speed. The speed limit was 30 miles per hour. Jones' car caught fire and he and his daughter died inside. Wolf refused a breathalyzer test to determine his blood alcohol content at the scene, but he was still well above the legal limit when police obtained a warrant for the test several hours later.

Jones was a bus mechanic and loved working on cars. He planned to marry his fiance next year after having their first child, Scarlett, and according to the Post-Dispatch, they were training to run a marathon together. Jones' family, including his fiance, sued Wolf and the bar where he drank for continuing to serve him alcohol when he was visibly drunk. The money will be split evenly between them.
