Here are the top three stories in St. Louis today:

  1. The St. Louis County Police Department reports that a young boy drowned at a summer camp at the Kennedy Recreation Center. The boy was taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital. The boy died at the hospital. The pool was reportedly being used for camp activities. (KSDK.com)
  2. St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones went to New York City yesterday to speak with counterparts about gun reform. The meeting discussed holding gun manufacturers accountable for when firearms end up in the hands of criminals. Mayor Jones has been allocating funds for criminal intervention, social services, and police-community relations to decrease the amount of gun violence occurring in the city.   3. A Republic Services Recycling Plant caught fire in South St. Louis County on Wednesday. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but early signs point to high outdoor temperatures. The incident occurred near I-55 and Bayless. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
