ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — Prosecutors in St. Louis County have charged 38-year-old Michael Kelley with second degree murder, the Post-Dispatch reports. Kelley is accused of fatally shooting 29-year-old Alexander Marley in the parking lot of a south county Walmart Thursday night. Marley, who was an executive chef for Andre's Banquets & Catering, was found shortly after 10 p.m. and taken to a hospital where he died.
Last week, police identified Kelley as a person of interest. They say he approached Marley in the parking lot of a nearby gas station before shooting him, likely in a botched robbery attempt. Kelley is also suspected of another armed robbery earlier on Thursday, in which police say he forced a 17-year-old to drive him to an ATM at gunpoint, according to the Post-Dispatch. In 2015, he served time in prison for arson.
Police are still asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to contact them.
