Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill's Husband In Intensive Care
Joseph Shepard has been hospitalized with what appears to be a heart condition.
ST. LOUIS, MO — Joseph Shepard, the husband of Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, has been hospitalized and is in intensive care, McCaskill announced on Twitter early this morning. "My husband has a very big heart but right now not working very well," she said. "Currently in ICU. Thanks for your prayers in advance."
McCaskill married the real-estate developer in 2002, and the pair have a home near St. Louis. Shepard is at a hospital in St. Louis, according to a spokesman for the senator, but the details of his condition were not released. Shepard was briefly hospitalized for an infection in 2014, causing McCaskill to miss a trip to Normandy, France for the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
