Mother Of Former STL Police Chief Gets 3 Years For Embezzlement

ST. LOUIS, MO — Carol Dotson, the mother of former St. Louis police chief Sam Dotson, was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday after being convicted of stealing more than $2 million from the Olivette property management company where she worked, the Associated Press reports.
While working as an office administrator, prosecutors alleged, Dotson embezzled the money over a period of several years, writing checks to herself and withdrawing thousands of dollars from the company's bank account.
Dotson, 71, spent the money caring for her elderly mother and paying her mortgage. She pleaded guilty to wire fraud in March.
