- Cardinals' Nolan Arenado has been named the National League Play of the Month for the second time this season. In August, Arenado led the league with nine home runs, 29 RBIs, and a .364 batting average. He first won the award in April. Fellow Cardinal star Paul Goldschmidt won the award in May. Through 5 months of play, the Cardinals have secured the award 3 times. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
- A former Northwoods police officer was fined $10,000 for assaulting a DMV customer in Florissant. Michael L. Bennett, 64, was ordered to pay the fine by U.S. District Judge Matthews T. Schelp. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of deprivation of rights under color of law and deprivation to be free from unreasonable force, in May. (Press Release Desk)
- The City of St. Louis has painted the crosswalks in The Hill to resemble the Italian flag. The Federal Highway Administration warns that crosswalk art can be distracting to drivers and pedestrians. The Hill's crosswalk art is curious given the city banned new crosswalk art in 2016 and said it would let existing crosswalk art fade away. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
