- Mayor Tishuara Jones has officially declared May 2 as Orlando Watson Day. The mayor made the declaration Monday during a celebration of life for the 48-year-old community activist, who lost his battle with cancer last month. The event followed a car parade from Heman Park to Kingsland Highway to the Pageant. (KSDK.com)
- An international kaleidoscope exposition is heading to St. Louis this month for the very first time. Sponsored by the Brewster Kaleidoscope Society, the event will take place at the Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel in Maryland Heights from May 12-15. The Brewster Kaleidoscope Society also curated "Kaleidoscopes, The Art Form" which is currently on display at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles. (St. Louis Public Radio)
- A local brewery is teaming up with Safe Bar Network to train bartenders to help prevent sexual assault. The staff at Perennial Brewery say they hope the bystander training will help make it easier to intervene when witnessing harassment or other unwanted behaviors. Perennial will join The Royale and Handlebar as the third Safe Bar Network-trained bar in the St. Louis area. (KMOV4)
